I just want to make a quick update on all the exciting event going on in my life (not really).  I’ve been taking a couple of Nursing courses and it has taking most of my time . I’ve been waking up at 6:00 a.m. just so I can get a decent parking spot (it’s crazy).  And by the time I come home it’s usually around 6 p.m. The rest of the time I just  workout at the Gym (I love it!)

2471676ag6ai7obxr

I’ve started HIIT! And the workout HIIT gives you is amazing!

HIIT is a very demanding workout, but the results are rewarding! HIIT produces EPOC (Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption). This is increased oxygen consumption and increase in metabolism after strenuous activity. The body continues to require oxygen at a level that exceeds oxygen requirements when the exercise began in order to re-oxygenate the blood, restore the body’s pre workout temperature, heart rate, and breathing. —HIIT will make you faster, leaner, stronger.

(For more info on HIIT visit this website)

Keep in mind I do HIIT 2-3 times a week

(HIIT is intense and mentally demanding so

try and have a rest day afterward)

MY HIGH-INTENSITY INTERVAL

ROUTINE

1. 5-15 minute warm-up
2. 5 minutes of stretching

3. On 3.8 MPH LOW INTERVAL
(for about 3-4 minutes)
4. On 6.0 MPH HIGH INTENSITY
(for about 20 minutes)

5. On 4.0 MPH LOW INTERVAL
(for about 10 minutes)

February. 21-24th- Indeed our trip to Hawaii has been one of the best vacation ever! On our last day in Hawaii we actually ate at a very small Hawaiian restaurant. We tried LAULAU, POL, SQUID LUAU for the first time. And I actually liked POL! Many Hawaiian didn’t like it but I thought it tasted like yogurt with a dash of salt. Mmmm!

INTERNATIONAL MARKET PLACE

We also manage to go to WORLD MARKET the day before we left Hawaii. In a nut shell, the WORLD MARKET as these small shops that sold merchandises and artifacts such as woodcrafts and orchids and leis ALL AT AN AFORDABLE PRICE!!!! And I need to exaggerate on the affordable because EVERYTHING outside of the International market Place items are about 10 times more expensive.  REAL TALK! So my family and I definitely bought a lot of stuff here. yeah like over 10 orchids. LOL!

BOBBLE HEADS OBAMA FTW!!

DUKE PAOA KAHANAMOKU

Right beside the International Market place is the DUKE PAOA KAHANAMOKU *phew* Statue. Duke Paoa Kahanamoku came up with the whole idea surfing. He actually won the first ever surfing competition in the Olympic games. No doubt, he is a cultural symbol and loved by many Hawaiian people. Notice the Leis and fire torches: they said it was to pay tribute and respect to Him.

BACK TO OUR HOTEL

My mom decided that we take the bus back to our hotel. So we took the bus and about 30 minutes we were back at our hotel exhausted. I literally just collapse on the bed I was just pooped. LOL. As much as I have LOVED Hawaii and enjoyed almost everything about it there were  however situations and things about Hawaii that left a slight negativity during our stay. There were times we met some really rude, and cold people. There was this one lady that I asked for directions to didn’t even look me in the eye when I was talking to her. And that lady at the first restaurant we went to made us wait without any consideration for an hour. But then in every place you get mean and kind people so I guess this is not a big deal but still it left a slight bad impression. Then there was the expensive food and housing prices in Hawaii. EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING is expensive in HAWAII”even a gallon of milk costs over 8 dollars! O__O* You have been warned! And the living cost is just tremendous amount of money 1,500 dollars a a week if you were to rent out an apartment (NOT including bills and food) Seriously! O__O

Overall,
MY TRIP TO HAWAII WAS WONDERFUL!

On the 24th of February morning,we packed our bags and headed to the airport and bit farewell to HAWAII. *sniff* *sniff* Honestly, I didn’t want to leave Hawaii! It was just such an amazing place. The beaches, the food, the culture and the warm weather of Hawaii can never be surpassed by any other State in the U.S. (in my opinion at least)  Sure, like I said before there are negative aspect about Hawaii (everything being expensive, the reserved sometimes cold attitudes of some Hawaiians), but every place on this planet has its pros and cons when it comes to traveling, one must have an open mind. But when it comes down to it’s a great place for vacation!!!  I shall leave you now and let you all absorb the last few picture of Hawaii!

Trip to HAWAII (Part III)

AND DOWNTOWN

I must say. Downtown was probably MOST favorite part of my stay in Hawaii! In the morning we drove straight to HANAMUNA BAY. Apparently this Bay is quite popular and many of our family friends suggested we must go and see. To be honest with you. It was good but we didn’t really see anything due to the sea of people! Hahaha! Literally it will take you hours to actually find a quiet area to sit beside the bay.

FEBRURAY 21-22-

TRADITIONAL HAWAII FOOD

DOWNTOWN HONOLULU! Now here is what I most liked! To get to know the history of this unique island of Hawaii. Below you can see the statue of KING KAMEHAMEHA he was the first king to unite the islands of HAWAII. And his wife introduced Christianity to Hawaii. It really made me sad Hawaii too was under the control of colonial power (BRITISH) *shakes fist at the British crown* Oh well. Right across from KING KAMEHAMEHA Statue you’ll find  ‘Iolani Palace, the official residence of King Kalākaua and Queen’

PEARL HARBOR

The rest of the trip well. We visited Pearl Harbor. When we were in Pearl Harbor’s U.S.S Arizona, I was SO emotionally touched when seeing how these young men (15-18 years of age) with their whole lives ahead of them died so suddenly. The images I saw of USS Arizona and USS Missouri I will never forget.

*Kalapani Beach in Lahaina, Maui*

February 18-21- Wow! On the 18th we woke up at 5am to catch a plane to. Thankfully I was too excited so I got ready and got up an hour early to get ready! When we arrived in Maui it was 5:35a.m. Sadly, Maui wasn’t as amazing as I hoped it would be. We actually spent most of the morning trying to find the right beach to go to. And eventually just stayed at a beach resort in front of Hilton Hotel. *slightly pissed* I guess it was better than nothing. So we just snapped up some pictures while we were on that beach I think it was called Kapiolani or something. LOL.

I think the MOST memorable moment of MAUI was when we drove up this steep mountain top. In all honesty we were not allowed due to how dangerous it was but no one told us so my dad just drove up the mountain  in are small MUSTANG. LOL Thankfully we made out safe. WE ENDED UP JUST SPENDING TIME on BIG BEACH Maui when we were there. Didn’t exactly go anywhere too exciting due to the weather. But it was still good. Snapped up some beautiful Beach pictures. We had Panda Express for dinner and then off we went back to OAHU.

WAIKIKI BEACH

When we arrived home in “Edition” hotel we were EXHAUSTED! Just collapse on the bed and slept like a pig. LOL. We ended up just staying at our hotel and didn’t go anywhere the rest of the day.

The very next day, which would be the 19th. We just stayed at our hotel and WAIKIKI BEACH and chilled out. We went tanning on the beach and then had a wonderful time visiting the

(I think it was called) and had a great dinner there. VIETNAMESE STYLE! LOL.

Trip to Hawaii (Part I)

March 6, 2011

2502545tkkr7sco3c249021kokjih1vjc2502545tkkr7sco3c

Has it really been that long since I updated this blog? I guess I’m just lazy. Hahaha! I’ve just got back from a nice family vacation in Hawaii. From February. 14-23 I’ve been in the Aloha state! Even though it was short but I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT! So without further a due I shall share some memories.

February. 15-17 WE HAVE ARRIVED!
A long story short. It nearly took us the whole day to find our “Edition” hotel when we arrived in Honolulu (OAHU ISLAND). And our first reaction when we arrived was?  WOW! WAIKIKI BEACH (it was right next to our hotel) was just amazing! I finally had an excuse of wearing one of the 10 pairs of short shorts I had. LOL. Having lived in the Midwest for 5 years it was truly breathtaking to see the ocean. The very next morning we headed straight to…

HAWAII DAY 1

NORTH SHORE

(north most part of Oahu). North shore was beautiful! There were sea shells scattered everywhere, rocks where you can climb and a Giant turtle too. My dad actually walked across the beach to the very end. LOL. It is hard to put to words how beautiful North Shore was.It was our perfect first day in Hawaii. Well scratch that, nearly perfect day. We went to this really horrid Chinese restaurant and let just say the owner had terrible manners. So we just dinned in PIZZA HUT instead. *ahem* anyway. The next day we went to another beach (so many beaches so little time). This time it is called

100_5376DSC04244 (2)DSC03012DSC04253

Kailua Beach (eastern Oahu)

My father really enjoyed this one. The beach was VERY long in the middle there was a basin where you had to walk across from it to continue on along the beach. What I like MOST of about Kailua was you can see other small islands! It’s just so insane! We spent most of the day there and went to Chinatown.

DSC04335 (2)  100_5560 100_5550

Uh yes…

HAWAII’s CHINATOWN

. What can I say…I believe most of the Chinese there spoke mainly CANTONESE. A LOT of antique stores and by far the cleanest Chinatown I’ve ever seen. There was also a CONFUCIUS statue in one of the HUTONGS. I think the best part was there was a BUBBA TEA shop there! HA! We don’t get them in Nebraska. Aye.

100_5615100_5602DSC03063

This time we spent in Chinatown went REALLY fast. By the time we were hungry it was already 5pm. LOL. So my dad had to by some food before the store closed. It was a shame we couldn’t eat in Chinatown. Hawaiian stores close so darn early! *shakes fist at stores* So anyway more to come….

TO BE CONTINUED.

A taste of my cooking skills (Part I)

February 8, 2011

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

I hope you all had a wonderful Chinese New Year! My family had a very simple Chinese New Year this year. On Saturday we invited a very close family friend to our house and ate a hearty dinner. The following day I cooked several dishes for my parents, just a way to show them how much they mean to me. I actually put an effort into making the dishes look artsy this time around. I believe knowing how to cook can definitely give a person great confidence in themselves no matter what type of background you come from. I’ve started learning cooking since I was 10 from my mom. I first started out only knowing how to make “Egg and Tomato soup” and “Bok Choy” and then later last summer my mom taught me how to make “Chao Fan” and “PAI GU” *drools* LOL. Indeed knowing how to cook has definitely made me gain great confidence. I’m hoping as I learn more how to cook more dishes it can become a great comfort in the future.

Overall our Chinese new year was good. I’m definitely optimist about 2011. Hopefully this year will bring us good changes. In closing, I’ll share some of my cooking secrets with you all
(mind you, I did not go to culinary school I only learned how to cook these dishes from my mom)

*(left) Egg and Tomato (center) some of the dishes I cooked, (right) Mushroom w/ red pepper*

MUSHROOM AND RED/GREEN PEPPER:
1.FIRST PUT VEGATABLE OIL IN A WOK
2.ONCE YOU SEE STEAM COMING FROM THE WOK PUT THE MUSHROOM IN FIRST.
3.OCCASIONALLY STIR THE MUSHROOMS OVER AND OVER UNTIL IT IS FULLY COOKED
4.THEN PUT IN THE GREEN/RED PEPPER IN WITH THE COOKED MUSHROOM.
5.ADD NEEDED SALT
6.TASTE IT TO CHECK THE FLAVOR.
7. ONCE DECIDED PUT DISH ON PLATE
YOU’RE DONE!

Snow, snow and more snow….

Happy February! I hope everyone’s 2011 is going well.

*************

Here in the Midwest U.S.A we have been facing a huge snow storm! It snowed for the past 3 days and the snow was up to 4-6 inches tall! *shakes fist to the sky* As if that wasn’t enough, every public facility has been closed and so we were literally stuck in our houses because of this disgusting snow! But thankfully it has stopped today and we managed to shovel all the snow off our drive way. But damn! I do not EVER want to endure it again. In a much lighter news, my family is getting COX cable (finally) LOL! We have not had cable for years! So this new change will be quite nice! There will be over 70 channels (ALL HD!). What I’m MOST excited about is that the package will also include BBC America! Since I was introduced to BBC by a friend, I have been so addicted to British comedies such as “Little Britain” and “Bottom”. They will all be on BBC America! I can’t wait for it. The Cox staff will be here tomorrow and will set it up for us. And you bet I will be glued to the TV. LOL. Off to the Gym now. I guess I’ll pop back on here later this month.
